  • About the Foundation

    The Omicron Eta Lambda Education Foundation is a 501(c)3 charatible organization that has been established for the purpose of conducting the following activities:

    • Award college scholarships to Washington, DC graduating seniors based on academic achievement and need.
    • Provide ongoing mentoring for students enrolled in middle schools and junior high schools to support the development of their self-esteem, academic achievement and community values.
    • Conduct educational workshops and discussion groups for students on such topics as pregnancy prevention, communicable diseases and responsible parenting.
    • Provide annual enrollment scholarship for high school youth selected to attend the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Leadership Development Institute.

    Brother Norris Carey, a tremendous champion of education, was a generous supporter of the Omicron Eta Lambda Education Foundation.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in the name of Brother Norris Carey.

  • Nathaniel A. Murray Scholarship

    The brothers of the Omicron Eta Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated are proud to announce our 2012 Nathaniel A. Murray Scholarship Contest presented by the Omicron Eta Lambda Education Foundation. The Contest will recognize talented students from the District of Columbia who will begin their college education in the fall of 2012. Applications are currently available and are due April 15, 2012.

     

    Manly deeds, scholarship, and love for all mankind are the aims of our fraternity. In keeping with the organization’s principles, the Omicron Eta Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., annually awards several scholarships to eligible senior high school male students enrolled in District of Columbia public schools. The scholarship is named after one of the seven founders of Alpha Phi Alpha, Nathaniel A. Murray, who taught at Armstrong Vocational High School in the District of Columbia. 

     

    We welcome applications from well-rounded young students who have excellent character, proven leadership skills, and demonstrated academic achievement (a cumulative grade point average of 2.50 or greater.)
